RE: High Memory usage!Opera for Windows
I'll just add a little snippet from Opera Task manager. !
One of the main reasons I started using this browser was its ability to frugally manage resources. Times are a changin'...♪♫
Looks like it's time to go back to Firefox or try some of the smaller browser projects.
Like IE 11.

RE: Speed dials and all extensions disappeared after system crash (with new AMD RX570 GPU)Opera for Windows
Opera's extensions and speed dial bookmarks were saved by quite useful Win 7 feature from system protection - previous version of files. I surprised myself a bit when I recalled this function as I felt like a complete returd after that crash-while-defragmenting C: fiasco.
I should probably consider buying some dependable SSD (Samsung, Crucial mx I reckon, I don't really trust those cheap ones) instead of buying unnecessary pieces of rather unstable shardware like cheap AMD GPUs to play silly (gory) videogayms.
I'm glad I could have this nice conversation with myself.
Hasta luego, muchachos!
Btw. Any recent changes in the download/history tabs UI department? I'm still attached to my precious v58. -
RE: Speed dials and all extensions disappeared after system crash (with new AMD RX570 GPU)Opera for Windows
Well, I should probably add I was in the most exquisite process of multiple uninstalls/restarts/installs/restarts while trying to find most stable version of AMD drivers. And I was defragmenting system drive, which in retrospect was not the best idea. Gotta love AMD and their lovely "adrenalin" drivers lol. Fortunately it seems there was a planned restore point at around high noon so I guess I'm gonna try that. Fingers crossed. Lol just as I was editing previous post the time for editing ran out. The 30-min time limit for editing is a bit short IMO.
And of course that restore point is going to restore those most recent adrenalin drivers that I wanted to get rid of. F*ck me sideways while running backwards. Oh well, here we go. I'm seriously considering returning that 570 and paying 50%+ for an overpriced Nvidia alternative.
Now I'm going to pray to the purest energy of the Universe to not let this POS crash during the restoring process.

Speed dials and all extensions disappeared after system crash (with new AMD RX570 GPU)Opera for Windows
Hello, can anybody advise me what to do in case of Win7 PC crashing with Opera opened and when I've launched it after restart all my extensions and speed dials have disappeared. I'd really appreciate if I could somehow get it back. Unfortunately I haven't backed it up in some time. Thanks in advance. Browsing and downloading history seems intact btw.

RE: [Solved]Netatmo weathermap not displayingOpera for Windows
The site is working correctly now after I deleted a specific cookie from netatmo.com (and a few others likely unrelated). Makes me think if those cookies were even deleted properly when I used the non-specific "clear browsing data" function (cookies and site data, cached files).
It looks like the Win desktop version of Oprah browser isn't a priority for the dev team as they're probably focusing more on other things like their "gaming" browser (quite pointless IMO) etc.
I guess they can always shift the blame on the "ignorant" user utilizing older (58) version and so on, because in the most recent version everything works just fine, like the history and download tabs lol.
Have a nice day. -
RE: [Solved]Netatmo weathermap not displayingOpera for Windows
Anyone experiencing or able to reproduce this behaviour?
I'm just wondering if it's limited to pre-60 Opera and works fine in last version or there's other issues like some extension problem etc.
Deleting cache made no difference btw. -
RE: History Page is broken: Old history not displayedOpera for computers
Why should it amaze you when there's no official support site for Opera with paid staff?
I'm still on the last 58 version because of the botched functionality and UI layout of history and download tabs. I know everything is possible but I don't think it's very probable they'll revert those unwanted changes. -
[Solved]Netatmo weathermap not displayingOpera for Windows
Neither standard nor satellite map is showing, only blank white space with weather station icons. Worked normally until 2 days ago or so. I'm using 58.xxx.132 version (because of the 60 update's history/download tabs functionality/UI problems). No such issue in Firefox - both maps are being displayed as usual.

RE: Opera using so much memoryOpera for Windows
You think Opera's using too much memory in your case?
Come back when one single process eats almost 1 GB of RAM.
Takes a few hours of running time to get there, but it almost never decreases. So I just kill the process every hour or two (restarts automatically) to keep its memory consumption within reasonable limits. The times when Opera was noticeably the least resources-hungry browser on the market are over. -
RE: Reduce memory eating?Opera for Windows
Sucks I can't edit (or delete as I've just noticed) my previous post after an hour or so. Oh well, just wanted to say it's a bit strange the asterisks I used as a multiplication sign in 4x1 and 2x2 disappeared. A quirk of this forum I guess.

RE: Reduce memory eating?Opera for Windows
Well, as a long-time professional procrastinator I haven't really tried that much, just the usual suspects like Gaggle's chromed spyware and Firefox and admittedly Opera 58 is still my favourite (not using 60 mainly because of those user-unfriendly botched download/history tabs; it's not the most important thing for me, but a nuisance big enough to stay away from it).
Anyway, switching browsers with all that exporting/importing which can go wrong/sideways, lack of some extensions, the process of adjusting settings according to my preferences etc. isn't very convenient process. So I'll just keep using workarounds like killing the "GPU process" every once in a while - it restarts at about 200-250MB so I have around 500-600 MBs free for an hour or two as it slowly creeps back to 7-900. And I'll limit my browsing, disable a few extensions etc.
I've been thinking of buying a new PC as this desktop sometimes begins to feel like a relic. Too bad when I built it I decided to go with the 41G sticks of RAM instead of 22.
Have a productive day.
