change search engine in mini

Is there any way to change the search engines in the new native opera mini? In the old one a kludge was possible by changing the URL in the manage search engines option. But there's no such option in the new one. I don't want to be forced to use Google and am still using the old version due to this problem.

It would help if we knew which version of Opera you're using (phone or tablet) and on which OS. On my iPad, there's a menu on the keyboard to select an alternative search engine. Currently there's no way to set a default which is annoying.

Opera Mini New (the native version) on Android 4.4. Some search engines can be added (e.g. Bing) by long pressing on the search box, but none of the secure ones that I've tried (Startpage, Duckduckgo, etc.) show any "add search engine" option when you long press on the search box, and there seems to be no other way to add them (or to edit the URL of any search engine).
