Download C-SPAN videos ??

I discovered, quite by accident, that I can download videos from the C-SPAN video archive, simply right-clicking on the first image from the video that pops up After I right-click, the screen displays "buffering" and lets me select where I want to store the downloaded file. While the download proceeds, the file has an extension of "opdownload". When the download as complete, the extension changes to "mp4" and the video can be viewed at leisure in the Windows video player. I' downloaded sever of these videos and everything has been OK.
But then yesterday, I was downloading a 3-hpour session on a House cmte hearing on EPA coal ash regulations when it simply stopped downloading at the 1-hour mark. It made the file extension change to "mp4" but the video stopped after an hour of playing. Can anybody tell me what's going on here?
