select between the periods instead of slashes when double clicking in address bar

Is there a way for the text that is double clicked within the address bar to select between the dots instead of the forward slashes? It's annoying to me because when I want to go to a different website by only changing part of the address, I have to drag select it or type it all in again. Firefox, Chrome, and Safari selects between the dots in the web address which to me is much, much better. Thanks.
