Sidebar getting longer?

When not everything fits on the sidebar, the sidebar is scrollable with the mouse wheel (or scroll gesture on trackpad). The scroll position should stay where it's at until you restart Opera where it should then reset to the top.
For me at least, things are not shifting when I hover over the sidebar.
You can click the 3 dots at the bottom of the sidebar and remove things you don't want to show. If you remove enough, the sidebar won't be scrollable anymore as everything will show on it at once.

@burnout426 That's the weird part.
Everything fits completely fine on there with quite large gaps and the sidebar isn't scrollable either. -

@SAK-Playz You can disable everything in the sidebar setup, close Opera, start it back up, enable what you need, close Opera and start it back up to see if that fixes things.

@burnout426 Just tried that. Nothing changed.
It is a weird bug. It only goes away if I show it all the time, but honestly I think it looks ugly. It's what I've been doing for now but I would rather have it with the sidebar hiding automatically -

Same issue in a test standalone installation with the sidebar set to autohide?
What exact panels (from top to bottom) do you have enabled in the sidebar?
Does it happen whether Opera's window is maximized or not?

@burnout426 Can you elaborate on the standalone installation part?
Top to bottom: Workspaces, Gemini, Calendar, Gmail, Translate, Flow, Bookmarks, Pinboards, Tabs, Historyinterestingly enough, it only happens in a maximised window

Sorry. Messed up the link. See https://www.reddit.com/r/operabrowser/wiki/opera/new_profile/#wiki_standalone_installation.

Top to bottom: Workspaces,
How many workspaces? Just the default 2?
What display resolution?
Also, what operating system and operating system version?
I'm still not able to reproduce the issue myself.

Try in a test standalone installation of Opera Developer from https://blogs.opera.com/desktop/2026/04/opera-131-0-5877-0-developer-update/ to see if it's fixed there. There's a sidebar auto-hide bug mentioned as fixed in the changelog.

From the bug info, it seems that it happens when your display scale is set at 125% or 150% with no issue when it's at 100%.
Looks like a fix is coming to Opera Stable soon too.
