Top to bottom: Workspaces, Gemini, Calendar, Gmail, Translate, Flow, Bookmarks, Pinboards, Tabs, History

interestingly enough, it only happens in a maximised window

What exact panels (from top to bottom) do you have enabled in the sidebar?

Does it happen whether Opera's window is maximized or not?

Nothing changed.
It is a weird bug. It only goes away if I show it all the time, but honestly I think it looks ugly. It's what I've been doing for now but I would rather have it with the sidebar hiding automatically

Everything fits completely fine on there with quite large gaps and the sidebar isn't scrollable either.

The scroll position should stay where it's at until you restart Opera where it should then reset to the top.

For me at least, things are not shifting when I hover over the sidebar.

You can click the 3 dots at the bottom of the sidebar and remove things you don't want to show. If you remove enough, the sidebar won't be scrollable anymore as everything will show on it at once.
