I'm using workspaces in Opera and when I create a workspace and open multiple windows, that workspace appears with the same name in all the windows. Unfortunately, the contents of the workspace is different in each window.

This would simply be an annoyance if the workspace were treated (and saved) separately for each window. This doesn't appear to be the case.

Say one of my workspaces, foo, is full of tabs in one window, w1, and empty in another window, w2. If I close w2 and then w1, foo is saved with all the tabs. If I close w1 and then w2, foo is saved as empty.

Is the any way to sync workspaces between windows so this doesn't happen?

Yes. It's supposed to be like that. Workspaces are just a visual separation of tabs on the tab bar for the window. Since each window gets its own tabs, so do the workspaces in each window.

At the URL opera://settings/onStartup, if you have "Retain tabs from the previous session" set, Opera will save and restore all windows (including their tabs). The trick is to not close any windows when you quit Opera. Just quit Opera with all windows open.

@burnout426 - Thank you for your responses and explanations. I definitely had a different model for what Workspaces were. It's a little weird that when I create a new workspace in a given window, it appears in all my windows (existing and new). I think that's what made me think workspaces were shared across windows.

It is helpful to have method to insure all windows, workspaces, and tabs are retained. I won't be closing any individual Opera windows unless I'm okay with losing all the tabs/workspaces associated with the window.
