Screen breakthrough from video plugins.

I'm using Opera 12.16 Build 1860 under LXDE on a Gentoo installation. For some time I've been getting screen interference caused by video plugins on web pages. These occur across all Desktops, even when the plugin is located further down the page and not visible onscreen.
This doesn't happen with Firefox or Epiphany, only with Opera. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a known bug? Does it happen with other Desktop Environments or Operating Systems?
