      Hello,

I have been using Opera for years now, since Windows 8 days. I have always opened Opera from a custom shortcut in my taskbar. The shortcut used to run the following command:

      "C:\Program Files\Opera\opera.exe" --private

Clicking it used to open my Opera window in the incognito mode like so:
      caca5979-1038-482c-9a33-d5fe70bb8bac-image.png

However, inn Windows 11, when I click this icon, it creates a separate taskbar tab for the incognito mode as follows:
      4c61adc1-3cfe-4fe8-9abf-4b50a0c6de4c-image.png

I have also tried using -private and -incognito instead of --private. However, the behavior doesn't change. those shortcuts also create separate taskbar tabs.

Also, I have observed this behavior only with my Opera shortcut. My Google Chrome shortcut, functions without creating any additional taskbar tab. It runs the following command:

      "C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" -incognito

      Any help?

Cannot confirm on Windows 11 23H2. Tried with both regular Opera and Opera GX.

I pinned the Opera icon to the taskbar by right-clicking it and choosing "pin to taskbar". Then, I right-clicked the taskbar button, right-clicked "Opera Browser", went to "Properties", switched to the "Shortcut" tab and added a space and --private to the opera.exe command in the target field. Clicking the taskbar icon loads Opera in private mode using that existing taskbar button and doesn't create a new one.

Are you on 24H2 or a Windows 11 insider build?

Your method works even for me. Thanks!
              I am on 24H2.

Try burnout426's method. It works for me.
