Installer problems on 15.3.2

Hi all.
I've never had any problems installing Opera in the past, but now I'm getting connection errors that seem to prevent the installer from downloading opera. Its been a while since I had to install Opera, but 3 macs I tried on are all running 15.3.2.
As shown in the screenshot, on launching the latest MacOS installer (as of PI day 2025, 03/14/25) there's a c. 15 second pause and then a network connection error.
Debugging steps:
Repeated on 3 different Macs, an M4 Mini, M2 Mini and M1 MBP. Failed with same network error
Ran Ookla speedtest immediately before running installer. Passed (see screenshot)
Turned off all firewalls and bitDefender. Failed with same network error
Date and time are automatically synchronized.
Repeated on a Windows 11 VM running in VMWare on the M1 MBP. Installed without issues
Checked connection to the opera download page - as this https it should check TLS. Passed - page loaded.
Checked console log during installation. No red flags, but a lot of yellow flags related to TLS eg- boringssl_context_handle_fatal_alert(2170) [C25.1.1.1:2][0x10800ce8800] write alert, level: fatal, description: protocol version
- boringssl_session_handshake_incomplete(241) [C25.1.1.1:2][0x10800ce8800] SSL library error
- An SSL error has occurred and a secure connection to the server cannot be made
So, as there are no firewall issues, network issues or antivirus issues, I'm wondering whether the compatibility range of TLS in 15.3.2 has changed? But in that case I'd expect more errors on this discussion board.
Sadly the offline installer seems to have disappeared and I'm now starting to shift over to vivaldi as I've been trying to debug this off and on all week.

@plattsad Well, to answer my own question kinda, I did find a way to make the installer work, but it makes no real sense.
A lot of people reported SSL issues with firewalls, VPNs and software apparently conflicting. So I actually enabled the bitDefender VPN and after that the installer had no difficulty downloading Opera. The thing about this is that the windows 11 VM with a shared network connection had no install issues ... so I don't think it was a firewall.
Just of odd!
