OperaMail where to go?

Hello everybody, back in the past there was OperaMail. Doesn't it exist any longer? Could this be true? Or where to go to get it? Thanks in advance

Opera Mail was discontinued as a standalone email client. It was originally part of the Opera browser but later became a separate application. However, Opera no longer supports or updates Opera Mail.

blackbird71 last edited by@toohoo It hasn't had development work or updates done on it for years. However, it can still be downloaded from here: https://get.opera.com/ftp/pub/opera/mail/1.0/ , depending on your OS.

You can also use Opera Mail that's built into the old Presto-based Opera Browser suite. You can download it from https://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/win/1218/int/.
Just like the standalone Opera mail though, there are issues. There's no TLS 1.3 support, there's no oAuth authentication support and certificate and cypher support is very outdated. The standalone Opera Mail also has some crash issues in certain cases. The rendering of HTML messages is also outdated due to Opera Mail using an old rendering engine.
Besides those things, if you can workaround them, you can still use it.
Note that Vivaldi now has a built-in mail client that attempts to replace Opera Mail. It's pretty decent and modern.

@burnout426 I'm quite highly surprised that 9 years after the last update of operamail (1.0.1044) people are asking for it! That raises the question about the motivation of people to ask for this. E.g. the sheer good usability of the mail program (based originally on its standard integration in the presto browser). Or the fantastic concept of this mail client. The very quick search results etc pp. I think it would make sense to take the inquiries seriously. Perhaps the inquiries are also related to disliking clients like Thunderbird. Who knows?
Vivaldi is okay and could be my successor client, but the import of old operamail resets all mails in the state of unread. And the operation is not so intuitive as of operamail.
I came into this thread by an internet search using "source code operamail 1.0". This code is such old that I ask: why isn't it made open source? A first step could be to overhaul the code using e.g. Claude, in order to let it meet today's TLS and other requirements. And last but not least: to let also include MAC and linux as installation options.
