      I am having potential problems with my hard drive and wanted to EXPORT and SAVE the Opera settings on this computer..........I tried to use Stu's Import/Export Tool 0.993 and got an ERROR message and could NOT export my settings >>>>>> message said to make sure Opera was NOT running = Opera was closed ie not running >>>>>

      Error exporting settings.........unable to read or process C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Applicatiion Data\Opera\Opera\Icons

      This is the info from ABOUT OPERA on my computer >>>> I am choosing not to use the latest versions of Opera since many things have changed, but that is not the issue here >>>

      Version 12.16
      Build 1860
      Platform Win32
      System Windows XP

      Browser identification
      Opera/9.80 (Windows NT 5.1) Presto/2.12.388 Version/12.16

      +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

      1. Any help appreciated since the tool looks like it is excellent if if worked

      2. Is there any other way if I can't get the tool to work to save my SPEEDDIAL and TOOLBAR settings since those are the most important settings..........I do not use Opera for email or chat or anything else.

      Thanks in advance.

        I'm not familiar with the tool you're using. The location it's attempting to access for the icon storage is the normally-correct place on XP (assuming Opera is installed for use in the 'owner' user account). Have you checked in Task Manager to make sure Opera is really not still running a process that has locked its files, even though Opera appears to be off? Also, are you sure Stu's Tool has permissions-access to the named folder(s)?

        In any case, there should be no reason you couldn't manually copy the entire contents of the folder to the new Opera installation (assuming its version is the same) after exporting all the other Opera settings via the tool. It's also possible that the tool itself is simply unable to handle the task for an Opera installation, for some reason. In which case, this error may be just the first of a sequential series of similar blocked file access error messages from the tool. In that case, you might be better off simply copying all your personal Opera data files manually to a new installation on the new drive.

        With Presto Opera, personal data files can readily be manually copied from one system to another. I've personally done it numerous times.
