Middle Click Behaviour

  • I've been using "new Opera" for the best part of a year now, and it is developing really well - thanks! Of course, like all old-timers I have a bunch of suggestions but this post is focussed on a single type of behaviour which could perhaps be called a bug: inconsistent behaviour of the middle click.

When I click with the middle mouse button I expect a new tab to pop up in the background, without exception. For a large proportion of pages, the tab opens in the foreground. Take this page, for example:

    http://www.sqlservercentral.com/

Every single link on that page (okay, I haven't tested all of them!) refuses to open in the background with a middle click. Please add this to your priority job list! Many thanks.

(Java script pop-ups would need to be handled intelligently too - hopefully they can be forced into the background too...)

  • Ha, the same problem exists on this very website, too!

  • Works as expected here. Do you have any extensions installed?

  • Duh, thanks, that was exactly the problem. I'm such an idiot. It seems as though I had a bunch of extensions installed from when I first installed v15. I continued to use Opera 12 and it was only at version 21 that I came back and switched over properly!

    Thanks!
