Opera should build a new lightweight browser for desktop with a different browser engine like Gecko rendering engine from Firefox and Java platform which will make it easy to maintain with increased safety. Developers should be able to contribute and customise to this browser using any language that JVM support like Java, Kotlin, Scala, Groovy, etc.
