opera gx. icons not showing up on websites

hello, i recently switched from google chrome to opera gx since it's easier to use as someone who has a habit of multi-tasking a lot so i don't know everything about how this works. i've tried looking up how to fix this issue but i can't find any.

my issues are 1) the icons on websites (including this forum) aren't showing up and 2) the icon file name is shown instead of the image.

i've tried removing all my extensions, clearing my browsing history, changing the font size and font, and enabled force dark mode but none seemed to fix my current issue. hopefully someone can help
