Opera is auto updating with no options

I am trying to find out if there are any options to ask me to update opera as opposed to a forced auto update.

No, no options for notification of updates, and no official way to disable the update process either.

Not a complaint but a choice or acknowledgement would be nice. Thank again Linux !!

my problem is that my firewall keeps blocking the opera updates. So i cant even see when there is a new version out and because opera keeps using new folders for it's updates i have to whitelist opera after every update.
