Opera synchronisation removed all workspaces and tabs

Hi,

this is the second time happening to me. For some reason, opera logged me out without any warning and I kept working as usual using various workspaces and opening tabs for me to work with later. Then, I saw that I was logged out and logged myself into opera again.
Without any notice the synchronisation of the workspaces etc started, but instead of adding the workspaces and all tabs I had open while being logged out, it removed my work of weeks and overwrote everything with the state of workspaces and tabs from weeks ago when I was last logged in.

Is there any way I can a) restore my workspaces from before the last synchronisation point when I was not logged in , and b) prevent that from every happening again?

Any hints and tips are welcome!
