Opera fonts are too light

Several fonts in Opera are too light to see. As I am typing in this form the font is light gray on white background. The address bar is also light on white background and I can't change the color in font settings although I can change the font and font color. Is there a workaround?

Yes, the font color in forum is not really black; it is RGB(64,64,64), in hex #404040

nevertheless this shouldn't have happend in the first place. it can't be that the window manager determines in which way a program renders the contents it displays. that's none of the wm's business.
hence i assume that by changing the wm's theme you accidentally "repaired" the original problem.

edit: i just realized that you're running jessie. for a system in a "testing" state i'd suppose a problem with fontconfig rather than one with openbox or opera. maybe a look at bugs.debian.org will reveal something of relevance to your problem.
