First, clean up some things:
Hit Windows key + r to open the run dialog, type
taskmgr
and press enter to open the Windows task manager. On the "Processes" tab, select any Opera processes that are still running and choose "end task".Uninstall Opera again (don't choose to delete your data when asked).
Hit Windows key + r, type:
explorer "%LocalAppData%\Programs"
and press enter to open your user's programs folder in Windows Explorer (File Explorer). You should see the "Opera GX" folder there. Right-click it and delete it.
Hit Windows key + r, type:
explorer "%LocalAppData%\temp"
and press enter to open your user's temp folder. Select everything in the temp folder and hit del. You can choose to skip anything that Windows won't let you delete.
Hit Windows key + r, type:
explorer "%windir%\temp"
and press enter to open the system temp folder. Delete everything in that temp folder that you can.
For any Opera taskbar icons left behind, right-click and unpin them. For any Opera desktop shortcuts, right-click and delete them. Same for any Opera start menu shortcuts.
Hit Windows key + r, type
taskschd
and press enter to open the Windows task scheduler. Select "Task Scheduler Library". Then, in the right-hand pane, select any Opera-related tasks and delete them.Hit Windows key + r, type
regedit
and press enter to open the Windows registry editor. You're going to goto "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall" and expand the "Uninstall" key to see its subkeys. There you will find the Opera GX key that represents that other Opera GX install entry that you can't get rid of. Left-click that Opera GX key to select it. Then, right-click it and choose to delete it.Then, goto https://www.opera.com/download in another browser (Edge for example), scroll down the page, expand the Opera GX section and download the 64-bit offline package.
Once the package is downloaded, launch it, click "options", uncheck "import data from default browser", adjust the other options as you like and install.
That should fix things.
