The only reason you're posting personal attacks violating the TOS is because you failed to read the rules that you agreed to on signing up, or because you need some help with anger management.
Who cares about the rules, you useless pedantic tool? Especially if they allow people like you to be condescending, insulting pricks but don't allow anyone to respond in kind! And as if your beloved rules are even enforced at all. Some rules, some community, some browser. Enjoy your iron-fist stewardship of this forum, basement liege, backseat moderator! Bye-bye now.

I do, because it makes for a harmonious community, and encourages Mr Angry Poster to leave, even before he gets banned. Your posts show your true reasons for posting here — you lost your bookmarks, and just wanted to vent. I sincerely hope you find a solution to your problem.

Wow, I just waisted 30 mins of my life reading this. You guys transformed this rant post in a who-has-more-testosteron fight (its against the rules to call it the other way). I agree that the rules must be respected, but the OP is not about that and you are way off-topic (rules?).
On topic, I am a happy opera user since '99 and I must say that now I'm very disappointed. Opera was always innovating and most of the features that we currently use in browsers (any) were pioneered by Opera. The first time I launched Opera 17 I was like What the f-word is this POS????? Its like Internet explorer with a different logo. I will be using 12.16 until they integrate Opera Link, I can't live without it. -

Your POSt is also off-topic — do some searching, and read some more useful threads than this one. Or, just use Opera 12.16 if you prefer to remain ignorant of the real issues. Synch will return in time — they're working on it.

Wow...
As a newbie to the forums here, I am really surprised and somewhat taken aback at the level of hostility towards a fairly straightforward question. I have just installed a new Opera browser, not upgraded, and with v.18 as my first experience of opera i was also facing the same confusion over bookmarks (and confusion over the terminology. IE: how do you know to search for quick access bar if you dont know that's what it's called?).
Anyway, lets be much more supportive on here please? If you feel the need to be condescending or that a question is somehow beneath you then simply dont waste anyone's time in replying, easy. Unhelpful replies are simply that - unhelpful. For the record, I also searched operas own help area and found i to be next to useless, hence i found my way here.
Cheers

It wasn't a straightforward question — it was a rant. We have seen far too many over the last three months. Politely ask a straightforward question like this guy, and you will get a polite and straightforward answer, if not from me, then from any one of dozens of helpful users on this forum.
We understand the frustration of the big changes caused by the new Opera, but we are only users — we do not work for Opera, and we have no responsibility for when it was released, or how it was designed, so don't be too surprised if hostility is reciprocated.
Replies that explain how to get a useful reply are extremely helpful, if the OP refuses to follow the advice to read the rules and search before posting, that is their own fault.

I already gave you the solution in my first post: “Rule #1 Search before posting.” The forum search is really not that bad. If not for all these rant threads it would be very easy to find solutions. As it is, searching should take no more than 5 minutes. Luxor already gave the short answer. If you want something as close as possible then the QAB is the best solution.

What the fak has my life to do anything with this? Do you know my life? No, so stfu.
I just wanted a freaking answer from an unfriendly mod. I knew the answer, which was you can't get it yet, cause I tried everything suggested. but I also hoped that i was wrong. I spent 3 days trying to make Opera 18 work half as good as the 12.16... Didn't turn out like it should have, except for the site compatibility, but thats not really an Opera feature, its the webkits... Opera Chromium is not a ready product it should be BETA. Not a full stable release...
If you put out a new version of software and remove 90% of it's functionality just cause you want to use a new engine, you don't release it as a full product. I understand many people don't use allot of the functionality, but I loved Opera just because of it. It was different it was better. Hope it will get better again... But now it's just pain and the 12.16 just doesn't work like it used to...

Then you should have asked a moderator, not posted some flame-bait in a rant thread. You can identify mods by the graphic top right above their posts, to the right of their avatar. As you can see, I am not a moderator, just another user.

So, you wanted an answer BUT you admit to already knowing the answer. In other words, you are little more than a :troll:

There is an answer... Download Opera 19 Developer then under the 'More tools' drop down menu synchronize your previous bookmarks bar into Opera. It takes a while, but it's worth it.
One annoying fault that you will notice is that your bookmark icons will disappear. to fix this, left click on the folders within the newly created bookmarks bar and click on Open All. Again it takes a while, but once done, KERRCHING Opera is back to the great browser it used to be in Opera 12.
I will never understand the reasoning behind Opera's decision to scrap bookmarks. Speed Dial is farcical when you have more than say 20 bookmarks! -

Yes, you are not moderator. Just a user that I start to think could be qualified with the idiom "на всяка манджа - меродия", which means you have an "answer" for everything, knowledge for every topic...Closest translation- "have a finger in every pie".
