Opera GX should add Ecosia as a default search engine option so users can search from Ecosia at the top of the Speed Dial instead of having to open a new tab.

At the moment it's only possible to select one of the search engines available on Settings for it to appear on Speed Dial. There is an option to add other sites to open as default through keyboard shortcuts but it is still impossible to search using Ecosia from the Speed Dial tab.

I messaged Ecosia who replied that they are willing to work with Opera.

At the moment I use an Ecosia addon to open Ecosia on new tabs but it would be far easier for users like me who prefer using Ecosia as a search engine to have it available as a default search option to be selected on Settings and appear on the Speed Dial page along with pinned pages.
