Password Synchronisation Problem

I can not synch my passwords on my computer in Opera Link. Every single time I am getting an error that says:
Password Synchronisation Problem
The passwords saved on this computer could not be synchronised with those stored remotely via Opera Link. The remote passwords are unavailable, most likely because you have changed your Opera account password. To recover the remote passwords, please enter your old Opera account password.
So the problem is that yes, I did change my password, because obviously I forgot my old password. Its just stupid. Of course, if you forget your password and get a new one , why does it ask me to input the old one I have forgotten!
Secondly, replacing the remote passwords is not an option as I have a password in there that I need and if I replace the remote passwords with that on the computer as the second option is telling me then I am afraid I am going to loose that password stored in Opera Link. (With that particular password, it can not be reset for a new one for reasons I can not disclose here) All I want is for Opera Link is to correctly synch passwords with this computer!

Opera version ?.
If it is version 15 or higher, synchronisation of passwords are not possible.
