Search Engine Shortcuts - Edit and Remove

Recently search engine shortcuts have started to interfere with searches and workflow. Originally, simply typing the letter 'g' followed by 'Enter' would bring me directly to my Gmail page, however recently this has started trying to find a page called 'g/' which is presumably linked to the google shortcut of 'g'. There are several services in my area which begin with a single letter 'G', attempting to search for any of these just removes the 'G' from the start because the browser assumes I want to use google (e.g. trying to search for 'G house' would perform a google search for 'house').
These shortcuts are unnecessary, sure there may be value for some people but there should absolutely be the option to either edit the shortcuts so that they are not obstructive in this way, or completely remove them as I never intend to use them. -
