What do the small dog ears on some tab bars in Opera 12 mean?

It means that the tab has either 1) finished loading and hasn't been seen yet, or 2) been updated and hasn't been seen yet. It's an indicator to let the user know that one of the above statements are true, and once said tab is clicked on the indicator disappears, because Opera deems the tab to have been seen (by the user).

In my Opera it rather looks like a little bubble
The indicator will look different depending on what 'Skin' is being used, and how the 'Skin' creator designed the indicator to look.
My 'Skin' indicator is shown by the text colour of the tab title, which shows the state of the tab.

Thank you very much. This will be another feature that makes me prefer Opera 12 to Opera 26.
