      Hello,

at business we sometimes (often! arghh) encounter short network outages.

This seems to trigger all my opera instances to automatically deactivate the proxy settings - regardless whether configured via manual or automatic (pac file) proxy configuration.

Now I exagerated a bit. It seems to depend on each opera's activity whether an instance recognises the network outage or not. So, one short network outage does not always let all opera instances deactivate their proxies. Just to prevent some counter-argumentations...

To reactivate the proxy in such cases, I have to enter the settings dialog (which needs a bunch of clicks), do no changes at all, but close the network proxy dialog with OK button. After this procedure, the proxy settings are respected again - IF there are no outstanding page loading requests! Otherwise this fails and I have to start again, or restart opera - but since I am using Opera link everywhere this even takes much more time.

      Request 1:
Is there a way to disable this intelligent automatism that deactivates the proxy?

Request 2 (if request no. 1 fails):
Is there a shortcut to directly open the network proxy settings dialog?

Request 3 (if requests no. 1 and no. 2 fails):
Is there a way to close opera, while omitting final link synchronization to be able to restart it directly after close?

      Thanks for any help!

(Please don't propose an opera upgrade to versions that don't have opera link implemented as this is a mandatory requirement for me, thanks)

Yes. You can use these commands for a custom keyboard shorcut(or mouse gesture, or toolbar button, or menu item):
Show preferences, 22 & Delay, 100 & Show proxy servers - shows proxy settings dialog**

        or

Show preferences, 22 & Delay, 100 & Show proxy servers & Focus previous widget & Focus next widget & Delay, 100 & Click default button & Delay,100 & Click default button - reapply Opera's proxy settings

Wow this is awesome! Thank you very much for those informations.

          One additional question:
When trying to alter the display name of those buttons, I get "External Action" instead of a different name.

I create the buttons with prefixing your expressions with "opera:/button/" and entering them into the address bar. First this fails, because of the spaces I assume, but the error page kindly displays a working link that magically creates the buttons I wanted.

Better use Opera's button generator: http://nontroppo.org/tools/buttonmaker/

            1. Go to http://nontroppo.org/tools/buttonmaker/

            2. "Choose the button's action:" - select "Show preferences"

            3. "Enter the button's title (optional, but recommended):" - type any button's name you want

            4. "Additional parameters" - type "22" (without quotes!!!)

            5. "Choose an icon - select any icon you want. **Nice help page to choose preferable icon: http://www.opera1.ovh.org/skinoskop.php

            6. Click on the "Add Second Action?" and select "AND (&)"

            7. In the "OR write the action as plain text:" field insert:

Delay, 100 & Show proxy servers & Focus previous widget & Focus next widget & Delay, 100 & Click default button & Delay,100 & Click default button

            1. Click on the "Add Third Action?" and select "ADD MENU (+)"

            2. In the "OR write the action as plain text:" field insert:

Show preferences, 22 & Delay, 100 & Show proxy servers

            1. Click on the "Create button"

            2. Install or drag generated button (look at the top of generator's page where is "Your Button:") into the Start bar

            Button is done.

How it works. Click for proxy settings reactivation. Long click(hold) for opening the proxy settings dialog.
