Tab notifications

This may seem like a very small want, but once I got used to tab notifications in Firefox/Chrome, I'm having trouble getting by without them. I've always used 'Tab Badge' to get unread notifications for Facebook, Gmail and the like in those browsers. I've switched to Opera as my primary and haven't been able to find an equivalent extension for that purpose. Figured I'd throw it out there in case anyone knows of some crazy, secret add-on that can do the trick.

You can use the Chrome extensions for this from their store. Simply install Download Chrome Extension, first to allow you to install extensions from their store.
Then you can install something like the Notifycon extension to handle this case.

Just a thought (since AFAIK Chrome does not have tab specific notifications either), do you actually mean HTML5 notifications? If so we have them in Opera already. If you are not getting them make sure they are enabled for the sites you wish to use them with:
opera://settings(Ctrl + F12) →Websites→Notifications -

Wow, I really didn't expect much from this query. All kinds of good stuff here. I appreciate it. In Firefox, I use the HTML5 notifications in conjunction with tab badges. If there's something equivalent for Opera, I'm in. Thanks for the leads. I'll be sure to report back with what I find.

Okay, you guys are awesome. I turned on the HTML5 desktop notifications, installed the Chrome extension and went shopping. Notifycon didn't work, for some reason, but Facebook Notifier did, and that's mainly what I was looking for. I really didn't think it was possible to get those pinned tab notifications in Opera. Shows what I now. Thanks again.
