@jcmlny I didn't see that change of theme but, anyway, I guess the old one will probably be removed.

So are we stuck with this change? I surely hope not. I have used Opera for ages and it 'was' my favorite browser. I always suggested it to others. That, unfortunately, won't be happening anymore. I guess it's time to go shopping for a new browser then

That is the worst theme update I ever saw, there is so much lost space on the "thick" borders, the they forced everything to be rounded which just take even more space. What a disaster. Best time to switch browsers

@none-now really disappointed that no one from opera team say anything about this problem, Vivaldi, Chrome, Brave …. All you have the option to change the theme … I’m out too if this is not fix soon šŸ˜ž

My Opera updated today, and the shell and theme is completely different. Everything is round, and floating, and I very strongly dislike it.

I apologize to the developers, and the artists who made the new look. It looks very clean and modern, and I am confident they worked very hard, and they did a good job.

But I personally do not care for this new look. And I would like to know how to disable it, or go back to the old theme.

The new one has this weird white square around the boarders, it's extremely distracting, and I dislike the floating the tabs, and want to go back to the pinned rectangular ones.

I'm sorry for being so fussy. Thank you for your time.

Is there a method to go back to the old 99 UI?

I couldn't help but notice this comp thread is only my topic and no instructions.

                    @makoruu Do the following:

                    • Download Opera 99 from https://get.opera.com/ftp/pub/opera/desktop/99.0.4788.88/
                    • Go offline
                    • Install Opera
                    • Disable automatic updates. Check https://forums.opera.com/post/160273
                    • Go online

@leocg So basically just "Download an old version and go without updates and security fixes."

Cool, I'll just use Chrome until they fix it.

@makoruu The old UI doesn't exist in Opera One, so the only way to get it back would be by using a previous version.

@leocg Until they add a new shell or theme for it because the use for the new Opera drops to half its normal use.

@jcmlny I just downloaded Vivaldi and am liking what I see so far. I have tried many others, but was not aware of Vivaldi. Thank you for mentioning it. I will use it for awhile to evaluate it.

With the "find in page" bar, we got 5 margins. Please remove them.

This new theme is really absurd, There is too much space wasted in the bars, they are exaggeratedly large, the usable navigation space is so restricted that it stresses people out

As I see that they will not solve this, unfortunately I will go to another browser and delete my information from Opera. I've been with Opera for years,
                                and this is the end.
And so, many of us will leave.

@aaronllerena I feel your pain. I am hoping that maybe they will listen and at least give those that want to return to the old look and feel the option to do so. Of course they would need to give their customers a portal to upload suggests like that.

It would be wonderful if some of these companies would implement changes their customers had suggested instead of tearing down the house and put up something that removes what made the existing product wonderful to begin with.

I have looked for a place to make suggestions on their site, but found none. The only option I see for this would be to submit this as bugs. I just hope someone in charge is listening to us in this blog. Until an option to return to the prior state I will no longer recommend Opera unfortunately.

@none-now I don't really think that they will add an option to return to old UI, most probably it will no longer exist.

I have a habit of putting my cursor to the side when scrolling through websites like Youtube and Facebook.

And now there's stupid god awful border around the entire page that is a complete and total dead zone. The scroll doesn't work if the mouse is touching it.

You can't retrain twenty five years of muscle memory to fix something like that. I've started using Chrome against my will, and I'll stay on Chrome until they change back the theme.

I've been a loyal Opera user for almost thirty years. This is horrible.
