Please help! Opera speed dial in windows.old file!

  • I had to "refresh" my computer, not knowing it would take Opera away. I did find the windows.old file, and launched opera from there, but all my speed dials and hearts are gone. Are they in a file I can import, and if so, what would the file be named? Thank you so much for your help!!!

  • What did you do exactly?
If it was like system recovery...

  • It sounds like they upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 or 8.

  • S/he reinstalled the system without wiping the hard disk. Try to find the folder named Opera in username/appdata/roaming; so find the files bookmarks.db, stash.db and thumbnails.db.

  • Why not just reinstall Opera ? That should put everything back

Reinstalling a Windows operating system with the exact same version that was previously installed (without formatting the hard drive) would not create a 'windows.old' file, unless you were upgrading to a new (Windows 7 or 8) operating system. Well not in my experience anyway.

  • Thanks so much everyone!! I can't find the files you mentioned in the windows old file, and I don't know how to import because when I click on the opera settings in doesn't list that as an option

It creates that folder, I did it before.
