I have turned on Instagram and Twitter notifications, but they don't seem to work in Opera GX. In other browsers, everything seems to be fine. In Opera GX, if i go to notification testing websites and trigger notifications in there, they work as well. So what could be the reason? What do I have to check in order to make them work as expected?

I have notifications enabled on several sites and despite this I get none. I don't know why and can't find a reason online. It has been several months and I can't seem to get it to work and would rather not reinstall the browser. Please help.

@thomascapella I've tried all the versions. Desktop notifications do not work in Opera while other chromium-based browsers work fine. Reinstall won't help, it's a global problem. You may recieve notifications until the first relaunch.

@chri5t4ylor Desktop notifications work until first relaunch. But devs and most users do not care about it.

@ruffed Thank you for the response. I tried reinstalling already and it did nothing, thanks for informing me.

Nope, Opera notifications are dead (Stable/GX/Legacy/x86/x64 versions under Win7/Win10).
You may re-activate this function for once, and it will work during the current session. But after you launch Opera for the next time, pop-out notifications won't work.

In the Site Settings screen, scroll down and select Notifications. The following two settings are offered by toggling the switch on and off: Ask first: Default option. You need permission to send push notifications to a site.

Well, that's lame. I really liked GX but I'm not living without notifications.

It doesn't look like the developers are worried about this problem.
Opera Stable / Opera GX / Legacy versions (both x86/x64) under Win7 / Win10.
You may re-activate this function for once, and it will work during the current session. But after you launch Opera for the next time, pop-out notifications disappear.

Must be "re-register" notifications in every new session.
If I delete e.g. reddit's stored data and revoke site permissions on site setting page, reddit will asks for send notification when I reload it, so I can re-enable it
And from that I'll get push notif..s from every other sites too, where I enabled it in the past.
But it isn't the proper solution, I must do it every time open OperaGX. -

Just started getting YouTube notifications a couple days ago which are the main ones I wanted to show up. Notifications going to finally work or is it a fluke? I haven't done anything extra lately to make them show up or anything.

Just left GX and I'm now using Edge until they fix push notifications, this has been going on for years and it's the same in the normal Opera.
