Can’t stop Opera from opening new tabs only in the app

So whenever I try to open a link when I Google something, Opera opens it in a new tab. I’ve been able to stop this on my PC through my Google account (which I’m signed into on my iPhone too), but I can’t seem to stop this on my phone. Am I missing something? Is it not possible to disable this?
