New YouTube Problems with Opera 12.17

I also had the youtube comments problem, and this indeed fixed it
Go to "opera:config --> User Prefs" and copy this line: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:31.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/31.0 to the "Custom User-Agent" field. Don't forget to click "Save".
But the problem is, now addblock doesnt work anymore.... it's like you fix one thing and another brokes down, Opera 24 looks totally incomplete, I love opera 12 but it gets harder and harder to keep everything going.
Any idea how i can fix adblock WHILE still be able to see comments on youtube?

I was using 12.17 fine for months. 2 days ago it installed the latest 24.0 and...
Teeps, you seem to have problems similar to those discussed in this thread.

Worked for me, I found that putting things in the custom user prefs broke other sites.
I have AdBlock too, and it's still working fine, and the YouTube comments display is fine too.
The only outstanding problem is that I can't now make YouTube comments myself as I can't type in the new comment box, but that's not really an issue for me!

This is a not typical behavior.

Try to delete Google's and YT's cookies
-
Try to set another User-Agent string (within the override.ini file):
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:32.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/32.0 Opera 12.16 -
Apply the above mentioned UA string for google.com. It should fix proper display of Google's search engine (bring back their "modern" design with additional functions perfectly working such as "find similar image").

Tried all that.
Added www.google.com to override.ini with that user-agent string.
Deleted all the cookies.
No difference, I still can't get a text cursor to appear in the YouTube new comment box.
Google's search pages don't look any different either, but I thought they were the latest version anyway.

Masking as Chrome was bad idea at all. Sorry, my bad.
Fully working solution for Youtube (now you can make your own comments too):
Use these strings:
User Prefs|Custom User-Agent=Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:32.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/32.0 Opera 12.16
User Prefs|Custom User-Agent=Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:32.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/32.0 Opera 12.16
User Prefs|Custom User-Agent=Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:32.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/32.0 Opera 12.16

I though you were talking about some...
Hey, they've actually changed shit, and now I can't comment either.
Stng, can I use your solution for Opera 11? The video is fine - only comments? -

I can't imagine any reason why it wouldn't work in Opera 11.
Just try it and see!
You can always back up your override.ini file and restore it if the new entries do cause problems.

I've either 11.61 or 11.63 - I thought it was 63 but in "about" I saw 61 recently...

How's this weird way of sharing files? -

I must apologizes for my solution, such that stng 's solution is the appropriate solution. Selective masking is truly better than global masking. After all, the problem only occurs on youtube and google. I like using Opera, and hope sites would recognize me using opera rather than a Firefox mask.
I have applied stng 's solution and it worked. However, I did have a hard time finding override.ini because that's for Mac users. For windows, it's called override_downloaded.ini.Also, where do you get these User agent strings? Is it better to use the most updated one? I tried both Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:31.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/31.0 and the one stng provided, but there is no difference.

Strange, I'm on Windows and override.ini is there on my system!
override_downloaded.ini is the file that's downloaded from Opera containing fixes for sites with known problems, a bit like browser.js, although I suspect that it's not being updated on Opera 12 any more.
The fix will work if override_downloaded.ini is modified rather than override .ini, but the latter should be used ideally as that's user specific and override_downloaded.ini isn't.
The default user agent strings are unfortunately hard coded into opera.dll, so can't easily be changed or updated.

hello guys.
id like to list my problem not only with youtube, but also with facebook (when you click on the newseed on the right panel the windows with someone else's activity wont go away) and discus (when you have an update about your account and you click to see it the screen turns just grey)
now i will try the partial masking and i will try to extend it to the other sites. sure thing is when you tamper with facebook and youtube you dont have much place to run to, now have you.

YouTube works nice with 11.
No it doesn't. Comments, for one, are mashed text.
Somebody doesn't like Facebook here?
How's this weird way of sharing files? That's the strangest Opera lay-out I've seen.
And the way quoting works in this forum, with no names cited, is the worst I've ever experienced.
@maffa: I have the same thing with Disq.us, but does the solution showed here, work for that as well? What domain do you add then? -

You try copypasting if you're not with Opera Presto.

I have solution for this problem, that doesn't needs to directly edit configuration file and relaunch Opera.
http://redd.it/2ltsrb-
Temporarily turn off automatic redirection: Preferences (Ctrl-F12) -> Tab 'Advanced' -> 'Network' -> Uncheck 'Enable automatic redirection'
-
Temporarily turn off JavaScript execution: Quick Preferences (F12) -> Uncheck 'Enable JavaScript'
-
Open plus.googleapis.com and turn on user agent spoofing for it: Quick Preferences (F12) -> 'Edit Site Preferences'... -> Tab 'Network' -> In dropdown list 'Browser identification' select option 'Identify as Firefox'
-
Repeat step (3) for plus.google.com and apis.google.com
-
Undo steps (1) and (2)
-
Refresh desired YouTube web page(s)
Done!
Actually, it is editing of 'override.ini' too, just done through Opera's GUI. String 'User Agent|Spoof UserAgent ID=2' does similar influence on YouTube as 'User Prefs|Custom User-Agent=...'
