Well, that would be fantastic!
But as for know, that button is ugly and useless (apart from the purpose of adding it that was already mentioned...).
And I think that If you really want to make it handy and useful it should contain the list of all search engines and, contrary to the omnibox behavior, our choice of search engine should be retained. And I hope you are aware that search engine Icons should be displayed in shades of gray...
And of course heart menu should stay on the right side of the address field!

But still - additional search field would be wonderful...
