Request in regards to horizontal tab scrolling

I have been using Opera since Opera 9. I've kept on using it through the switch to Chromium 'til now.

My browsing habits involve doing a great deal of research. My main reason to use Opera is the fact that it is the only browser that both allows easy navigation between hundreds or over a thousand tabs open in a browsing session, and maintains acceptable performance while doing so.

Forcing the new (and very slow under my use case) search-inside-tabs feature and the obnoxiously slow visual tab switcher made me seriously considering switching to another browser.

If I ever lose the option to mouse easily over all the papers and PDFs I've opened in a browsing session, and have to scroll back and forth to access them instead, I will no longer have any real reason to use Opera. It is the only appealing unique feature Opera offers to me at this point.

Please let me keep working the way I have for a decade. Don't force this change on people who don't want it. Please.
