It could preatty useful to have an auto-hide option for the left sidebar, just to maximize the horizontal space in some situations

@giacomorutili I'm not sure if this is what you mean but this is what I've done. Go into the settings and then go to Advanced, Shortcuts and Configure shortcuts. Scroll down to Sidebar and make your own shortcut. I made mine s. Now when I click on s the sidebar toggles on or off.

@kerygma I already know that and it's, obviously, preatty cool but I prefer to auto-hide the sidebar as default behaviour and show it when I move the mouse on the left border of the browser windows.

@kerygma I think that is a decent workaround, but I totally agree with @giacomorutili that it would be very useful to have this appear on approaching the left side of the screen.
I have an OLED display and I've been trying to find a solution to eliminating static elements (to avoid burn in) like the tabs/navigation bars up top - and now the sidebar in Opera. But beyond trying to mitigate that risk, I'm among those internet browsers that enjoy as little amount of information on screen as possible. I'm always disappointed by the all or nothing options with toolbars because I want both haha I want them to appear when needed but not without me needing to prompt them.
These are obviously indispensable elements and very practical to have and utilize, but I'm hoping there will be a way they can appear/disappear unless a user is about to interact with them for as clean and streamlined of a web browsing experience as possible.
