x button to close tabs not showing up

So the x button to close tabs has been disappearing lately, and the only way to make it reappear is to hold left click and drag the tab I do tend to have a lot of tabs open, but this was never a problem before. It just started happening one day, and has been doing it ever since. It's quite annoying. Any ideas?
