I'm getting the following error when running sudo apt update after installing opera-stable_82.0.4227.33_amd64.deb.

@john-53 - That error came from both update manager and cli sudo apt update. That happened after installing opera-stable_82.0.4227.33_amd64.deb. Purged Opera and installed opera-stable_79.0.4143.72_amd64.deb and everything is now working properly.
Which Linux Mint do you have. It's not normal to need an older package. Hopefully you'll be able to update to 82.

@john-53 I'm running Mint 20.2 Cinnamon
Have you been able to upgrade to version 82.

You're welcome.
For future reference, it's actually better to install through terminal while also getting the Opera key and adding it to the repos.
Unless you choose to go with flatpak or snap.
I have used Method 2 on this webpage. The only exception is I don't launch Opera through the terminal. It will be populated in your menu once install is complete if using Ubuntu base system.

Also doing this to correct any ffmpeg issues for playing h.264 website videos has worked well for me.
