  • Important info for the user who use Opera 82 developer on Linux: since Chromium is updated to 96.0.4655.7, there's no more #temporary-unexpire-flags-m93 flag available and therefore you can't use it to see and enable #enable-accelerated-video-decode flag to have the acceleration turned on. Also, the switch "--enable-accelerated-video-decode" seems to doesn't work anymore.

However, you can add the following switch while launching the Opera "--enable-features=VaapiVideoDecoder" and it should enable the acceleration, but first you have to follow additional steps (like e.g. installing additional, necessary packages) to make it work.

In some cases, adding the above switch is not enough, then you need to use it together with the "--use-gl=desktop" swtich (or "--use-gl=egl" on Wayland) - this makes the web browser to use OpenGL and disable ANGLE as the rendering backend.
Of course, it may not work for some GPUs and/or OS configurations. In that cases, you need to find another way to use accelerated decoding, until the problem will be resolved in the future.
