Opera Email and rules

Hi all,
I have just installed Opera email and am I'm impressed with the looks and how it behaves. There's are 2 issues that I'm searching answers for:
- Does Opera Email save sent messages to the sent folder? If so, how do I stop it from doing so?
- How do I create rules in opera email such that it automatically moves downloaded messages in Inbox to "XYZ" folder? I'm so used to working on Thunderbird and Outlook that I can't seem to find this in Opera Mail.
Please help. I'd like to make this as my main email client from now on but these two issues are holding me back..
Thanks
Amit

- Does Opera Email save sent messages to the sent folder?
When you have an IMAP account, on the "IMAP" tab in the account's properties, there will be an IMAP sent folder setting. Just unset it if you don't want sent messages to be copied to that IMAP folder.
Note though that for some email providers, the SMTP server is the one that places a copy in the sent folder. If you have one of those providers, you'd have to check the settings for the server (via the webmail settings for example).
If you unset the IMAP sent folder though, messages in that IMAP folder will no longer be treated as sent messages by Opera. You won't be able to edit them and they won't show up in "All Messages/Sent".
If you unset an IMAP sent folder and Opera sets it again, you'll have to close down Opera and edit incomingN.txt in the mail folder (where N is the number for the account as seen in accounts.ini) and disable special use. Then, you'll be able to unset a sent folder permanently.
For POP, there are no folders. There are just views. A sent messages just has a bit set on it to designate it as a sent message.

How do I create rules in opera email such that it automatically moves downloaded messages in Inbox to "XYZ" folder?
In Opera, you create a label. Then, you right-click on it and goto its properties to set its rules. It's kind of like a Thunderbird saved search except that you can manually add/remove messages to it too if you want. You can also make the label act like a learning filter by checking "learn from labeled messages". But, you shouldn't use that unless you know what you're doing.
Anyway, since Opera doesn't support folders and a label's rules pull messages into the label itself, there's no move/copy to folder action in a label's properties. There's just "mark as read".
Opera doesn't support global filters that do actions like Thunderbird does. If you need messages that match certain things to be moved/copied to a certain IMAP folder, you need to use server-side filtering (options often found in the webmail settings).
Another way to think of a label in Opera is to think of it as a Thunderbird tag where a global thunderbird filter adds the tag to the message where the tag can be a view in the side panel.

For my IMAP accounts, I just leave everything in the Inbox and use Opera's labels and Opear's All Messages views to filter what I see in the Inbox IMAP folder. It's kind of like custom views in Thunderbird.
