Videos Not Displaying in Fullscreen

At some point I chose to have Opera open videos by default with its native video player. The player works very well, but it will never go into a proper fullscreen. It always leaves space for the software buttons on the bottom of the screen, and scales the video appropriately. Even youtube videos won't open in YouTube and instead use Opera's scaled video player. I've attempted to clear all of my apps defaults and clear Opera's stored data and defaults to no avail. Can I get any suggestions on fixing this?

EDIT: I'm using a Moto X, on Android 4.4.4, with Opera 22.0.1485.81203

Well, now the mobile YouTube site doesn't work either. All YouTube links that I click in the opera browser go to the YouTube website instead of the app, and the video shows only a blank screen with a time of zero. Clicking on the video does nothing. I've tried reinstalling opera, but that had no effect.
Any help? As of now I have to copy and paste a video description in the YouTube app in order to watch anything. It's completely broken in opera.
