Amazon Promotion Extension

@josh143 This Opera settings method for disabling the pesky and intrusive ('never asked for or opted-in to') extension-app for Amazon still works (for now). With Opera version 75.0.3969.243, the Amazon extension-app is not placed in the main Manage Extensions settings menu but within the Manage Sidebar setting menu, under Sidebar Extensions. In here is is where I used the 2nd Method mentioned in post by josh143
An important note: a user should always read the fine print regarding Usage Policy, Permissions, Privacy and Rights.
The Permissions enabled for this Amazon Sidebar Extension are the following:
Permissions:
This extension can access your data on all websites.
This extension can access your data on some websites.
This extension will manage your extensions.
This extension can create rich notifications and display them to you in the system tray.
This extension can access your tabs and browsing activity.[source] https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/amazon-for-opera/

I do not want or need the Amazon sidebar extension. It causes extensions that I use regularly and want to see to be pushed down off screen. I can hide it, but it keeps coming back. Not cool. I would like to be able to do more than hide it--I want to remove it completely. I've been very happy with Opera for a few years now, but I will switch browsers if this kind of crap continues.

@mrsomewhere If you're only worried about the Amazon extension pushing others down, just right-click on the green icon and select Hide Amazon.

@deandog I appreciate the suggestion, but I've done that and it keeps coming back.

If you just have the icon where the actual extension hasn't been installed, goto https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/amazon-for-opera/ and install the extension. Then, remove the extension. That should get rid of the icon and hopefully stop it from coming back.

Well done Opera... I've been ignoring this for a while as I never had the time to google a solution for this annoyance but forcing extensions down one's throat is just not right. I have a zillion extensions I never installed not ever use and now I'm removing Opera altogether as I decide what's on my computer, and there's plenty of other good browsers out there... Used to be an Opera fan but with these built-in extensions that keep re-appearing no matter how many times you "hide" them, that's just the final drop... Moving on to less obtrusive browsers.

This solution worked for me. Thanks.

I should say, this is debilitating as I've utilized Opera as my "go-to" program for a long time.
Essentially they had the tolerability to unveil it. Despite the fact that, my theory is that their game plan with Amazon wouldn't permit in any case.
Fortunately, upon additional examination, this can be "eliminated" generally without any problem. You can do it one of two different ways:
Visit amazon.com from the location bar, and in the case that consequently opens in the top, right, select "Don't show this once more"
On the off chance that "Amazon advancement" ends up appearing in your "Oversee modules" box, simply click the Pin close to "Amazon advancement". Then, at that point, click the light green "a" symbol that shows in the toolbar. Then, at that point select "Don't show this once more".
In any event, doing a full settings reset I was simply ready to get it to return one time. Different occasions, remember can't help thinking that I don't need it. Expectation this aides somebody.

@likoki5980 Somehow I forgot to unsub from these posts, which I'll do in a sec, but for me the issue was not one of there being a workaround but more one of them forcing something down my throat. There's plenty of
fish in the seabrowsers around, so I've long moved away from Opera and will probably not return. The end user should always be in control of their software, so this was a very crap move on their part. -

@burnout426 It does not work for me. After installing i see second icon of Amazon. Then I delete extension and second icon disappeared, but first icon has remained.

@merlin-ulg Opera changes some things, so the workaround might not work anymore.

I want to rid my Opera Browser of Amazon Assistant, I followed the Instructions on Amazon site on link below but the Amazon Assistant does not show on extensions
I do not want Any adware in Opera, no trackers, no ad or analytic, just private browsing.
I unpinned the Amazon assistant and it came back on next session
What files need editing to rid my system if this Amazon trojen?
I do not mind if I had to edit the registry, but I would rather opera just respects my choices in settings, i.e.
Display promotional notifications
Receive promotional Speed Dials, bookmarks and campaignsBoth Disabled
