Problem with contacts outlook.com Opera 12.16

Hello,
I have a very "small" but serious problem with "hotmail" : I cannot access my contacts when writing a new email.
In the usual interface, one would have an entry field for the addresses of the email's futur recipients and underneath that would be a list populated by your most frequent contacts. You then either click on the contact or start typing and the form narrows the options as you type more characters. Should you wish to, you can also click on the "To" ("À" for me as it is in French) and get access to your contacts to add them to the field by clicking them.
While everything else works fine, that part (the contacts) is unresponsive : the initial list is absent, I type and nothing (other than the characters being entered in the field) happens and the "link" does nothing when clicked.
This is quite strange as I have enabled everything I can think of for the site... I imagine this is to do with javascript, but I am at a loss as to which setting I need to change.
I have no extensions installed or even downloaded. Win7 with quite sufficient hardware. Opera 12.16 build 1860 (win32). This is a fresh install after removing everything opera-related from my computer (revo uninstaller and ccleaner + my searching manually).
As a side note (very strange) : I have been atempting to play around with other browsers, but today, all 4 I have installed crash on startup. Not even after anything startup, straight from the installer startup and ... crash.
