Memory Usage

I'm well aware Opera and memory usage is a topic which has been brought up a few times over the years but wanted to get some feedback from the community to see whether my experience is unique.

Issue: Using Opera(70.0.3728.119), Windows 10, VPN on, 4-15 tabs open, the memory usage creeps up to unsustainable levels (1.5GB+ seen in Task Manager), requiring a restart of Opera to release memory.

Full disclosure, I'm developing a Vue web-app and recently switched to using Opera as my main browser(1+ month ago); part of my concern is that I may be leaking memory by failing to close references for garbage collection.

Testing: Not much. After an 1.5 hours this morning Opera is using 1GB of memory. I haven't tested this on other browsers to any great extent yet but will over the coming weeks. My gut feeling is that this is an Opera issue. I will soak test Opera over the weekend (without my web-app and with it) to see what happens.

Any thoughts or comments on Opera's general memory usage, Opera's memory usage when using Vue.js, how to diagnose such issues, and how to force garbage collection would be appreciates. As mentioned above, I'm just seeking feedback at this state.
