Switching screens while using youtube

I just started using Opera GX on my Mac, and thus far I am loving the functionality it provides. One issue that has been bothering me recently, however, is whenever I swap between an Opera window that is playing a youtube video to another screen and back, there is a few seconds upon switching back where the screen is entirely dark. The video continues to play, but I cannot see or do anything for 1 or 2 seconds, and even after the screen returns there is another few seconds where you cannot pause the video.
