Every time we get an update I have to log back into everything. The password key doesn't work like it used to, It shows login info for all the sites then I'm left guessing which goes where and I'm tire of it. Opera has been my go to browser for many years but i'm on the verge of dropping it all together. It should be my choice when I want to update not someone else's. I've gone into program 86 folder to opera renamed every operaupdate exe. I've found but I guess they have one hidden some where. so this is my final plea for someone to help me stop these updates

In Opera, goto the URL
opera://about
and take note of both the version and the "install" path. Then, close Opera. In the install folder in the version folder, rename "opera_autoupdate.exe" to "opera_autoupdate.off". Then, Opera will not be able to update and you will not be able to check for updates. To watch for updates, subscribe to the RSS feed on https://blogs.opera.com/desktop/. Then, whenever you decide to update, either download the installer and run it to update Opera or rename "opera_autoupdate.off" back to "opera_autoupdate.exe" so that you can check for and install the update viaopera://about
oropera://update
. Then, when you're done, close Opera and rename opera_autoudpate.exe in the new version folder. You must repeat the renaming each time you update. -

Thanks for the response. I've tried renaming autoupdate exe by adding a 1 to it, I'll try what you've suggested and see if that will work.

@wildch1ld To test it, goto the
opera://about
oropera://update
page and try to check for updates. It should fail.
