My Opera doesn't import and remember passwords

I'm so thrilled to start using Opera again after years, because of it's functions and sync with mobile. But sadly enough it doesn't remember passwords. As I read this is a common problem, is there a solution or work around.
Without this function it's pretty useless these days... -

Changing the password for the Windows user account fixed this problem for one user.
Also, do a test. Download the Opera installer, launch it, click "options", set "install path" to a folder named "Opera Test" on your desktop, set "install for" to "standalone installation", uncheck "import data from default browser", and install. Test in that Opera, but do not enable Opera Sync. Do passwords save then? If not, do they save after change your user account password?

Thx, I got it working in the local version, not the portable version, maybe that's the prob.
Sorry, but I switched to Vivaldi because of the privacy and performance issues and the Chinese connection
