Spacing of pinned tabs and bookmark icons is odd

In version 68.0.3618.63:

Pinned tabs became spaced too far apart.

Bookmark bar icons became crammed together on the left.
Did these change in the latest version? Is there a way to restore the more attractive and functional spacing?
