Workspaces Deleted My Tabs

I long for when Opera will let a group of tabs be dragged and dropped into a new window. (Please, for the love of anything, add this feature!) I saw an option to send a group of tabs to a workspace. I thought maybe I finally had an equiv of drag and drop.
Nope!
I wanted to ungroup the new tabs window as a workspace. Instead, Opera closed that window. All those tabs lost. Reopen Last Closed Window isn't even an option. Whyyyyyyyy?
