I just re-installed windows 7 and downloaded the latest opera browser.
Now I am getting "NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID" for almost every site with a login: my bank, forums, work portals, everything.

I tried to google the solution but everything is from years back (telling me to reset my clock in windows and my timezone, but they are accurate) so there was nothing to change.

Then, i noticed something odd. Small parts of google are in Russian (or at least using the Russian characters).

What should I do to fix these two issues, and do we think they are related. Also, IE does not have the same symptoms.

Did you copy your Opera profile over from the previously install of Windows? Are you using Opera Sync?

I'd download the Opera installer, launch it, click "options", set "install path" to a folder named "Opera Test" on your desktop, set "install for" to "standalone installation", uncheck "import data from default browser", and install. Test in that Opera without enabling Opera Sync or installing any extensions or using Opera's VPN. If it still does it there, it's likely the issue is outside of Opera and something with Windows 7 like a missing update. Are you sure Win7 is SP1 and fully updated?

On Windows, do you have any anti-virus or security software that intercepts your connections so it can monitor traffic for viruses?
