When bookmarks sync is enabled, bookmark bar changes are lost on restarting Opera

When I drag bookmarks or bookmark folders on the bookmarks bar to another position, their new position is not remembered when I close the browser. I am syncing using my Opera account. The referenced issue above is for Windows, but I am seeing this on my Mac.
This is replicated by re-arranging my bookmark bar's bookmarks. Close Opera and relaunch. I will see the bookmarks bar in the re-arranged order for a moment, and then it will blink back into the old arrangement.
