Opera latest version 66.0.3515.44. Is it a joke?

Presumably, those responsible for Opera are working to a calendar several months in advance of mine, as I can only conclude from my first encounter with this browser that it's April 1st in Opera Land.
I've never come across anything as buggy, amateurish, and unintuitive as this. The'Help' section offers no screenshot of the Opera GUI in Windows, presumably because that's too much to expect of the skill level of Opera's developers, on which basis, then, I'm stuck without sight of a Bookmarks Toolbar, despite clicking on repeated Settings entries asking if I want it (of course I do: what's the point of an Internet browser with a Favorites bar that is optional??? Might as well offer a motor car with optional wheels.) I've also clicked on 'import from Firefox' and yes, Opera reports that it has done so, but it hasn't.
What with its prepubertal 'Speed Dial' and 'Flow' descriptors, the Opera experience may very well not be intended for
Windows desktop compute users, though if that is the case then surely it would be courteous to state that at the outset? As things stand, Opera is time-wasting junk promising much but delivering nothing in a Windows environment, Ah well: back to Mozilla! -

Not a joke nor waste of time
Presumably, attacking the skill level of Opera's developers, rather than simply offer courteous suggestions and observations, hodges ignores the incredible product Opera has become. Hodge's passive-aggression is fairly typical of non-professional behavior. Surely it would be courteous of hodges to state at the outset that he/she is of an angry mindset. The Opera team has never claimed they had attained ultimate browser nirvana. Over the last 2 years, I've gradually migrated some of my personal and business web usage to Opera with great results regarding security and performance. I look forward to watching Opera mature on the UX and am learning to trust the skill level of the developers that hodges attacks for delivering "nothing in a Windows environment" and "junk". As a long-time systems engineer, I find Opera far, far away from being a 'waste of time' or a “joke” -

Hey, I say adrin7 didn't earn @nvmjustagirl 's windows xp comment. I say if adrin7 is having many problems on 'new version' then he's found a safe place here on Opera forums. Besides, quite honestly, if folks weren't having a few problems, I'd be out a job. ( :

I'm stuck without sight of a Bookmarks Toolbar
Click the Easy-Setup button at the far right of the address bar, scroll down and enable "Show bookmarks bar". I have verified that the setting works fine.
I've also clicked on 'import from Firefox' and yes, Opera reports that it has done so, but it hasn't.
Make sure Firefox is closed when you try to import. Also, if it imports everything but your bookmarks, try the following.
Goto the URL
opera://about
and take note of the "install" path. Then, close Opera.Open up a command prompt in Windows and type the following command:
"path to launcher.exe in the installer folder" --enable-features=PasswordImport
Then, in Opera, goto the URL
opera://settings/importData
and import from Firefox (make sure Firefox is closed again). What is Flow
https://www.opera.com/features/flow
Speed Dial
Speed Dials are bookmarks on the start page with big thumbnails for quick and easy access. You can goto the URL
opera://settings/startPage
to adjust the start page settings. Since Speed Dials are bookmarks, they'll be shown on theopera://bookmarks
page too. Also, see https://help.opera.com/en/latest/start-page/#speedDial.Opera Help
https://help.opera.com/en/latest/ has lots of visuals.
Look at the "Why Opera" and "Features" menus at the top of https://www.opera.com/ too.

Well.. You could find one of those old DL extensions (code) and make it yours.
Using an online service comes with guaranteed tracking and logging. But if that's what u choose to do then for example http://videosdownloader.cc u can make that paste url line a search engine <- and then use it through context menu.
